Does anyone else find the number of variants Porsche offers quite staggering?

Take the current UK 911 range offering shows 25 variants (that's before you start looking at the options list):

911 Carrera
911 Carrera Black Edition
911 Carrera S
911 Carrera GTS
911 Carrera Cabriolet
911 Carrera Cabriolet Black Edition
911 Carrera S Cabriolet
911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet
911 Carrera 4
911 Carrera 4 Black Edition
911 Carrera 4S
911 Carrera 4 GTS
911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet
911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet Black Edition
911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet
911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet
911 Targa 4
911 Targa 4S
911 Targa 4 GTS
911 Turbo
911 Turbo S
911 Turbo Cabriolet
911 Turbo S Cabriolet
911 GT3
911 GT3 RS

Does anyone else think they should simplify their offering?

The range really boils down to 5 variants:

911 Carrera - 2/4 (Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet) - Black Edition of Coupe/Cabriolet)
911 Carrera S - 2/4 (Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet)
911 Carrera GTS - 2/4 (Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet)
911 Turbo/Turbo S - (Coupe/Cabriolet)
911 GT3/GT3 RS

When you see it listed like that, it does seem a lot!

I don't see a problem with it though, something for everyone and variety is the spice of life as they say biggrin

I guess it really boils down to.....
  • 2 or 4WD?
  • Coupe or convertible (or something in-between)?
  • How 'focussed' you want it be? S, GTS or GT3?
I guess there are some restrictions though like you can't have a convertible 4WD GT3 but the list seems pretty good to me.
