I've been to Snetterton twice this year, both times at the static test, foot to the floor the car has measured 94dB. Sport exhaust off. I've also been to Angelsey quite recently but they don't do static testing.
Out of interest I didn't use the sport exhaust at Snetterton the first time, but I did the second time and at Anglesey and neither time did I seem to trouble the drive by mics.
I want to go to Bedford but that might be a problem. Any one had experience there??
Personally I cannot see how or why they would require you to test with sport exhaust on. That's a decision entirely down to you whether you use it or not.

Thank you that's better news....borrowing a music DB meter tonight to check myself, sure it won't match circuit equipment but will give me a good idea ....... 94db sounds too low, are you sure it wasn't 104db? What do you mean foot to the floor, were you on the limiter? Definitely 94db, 104db would have been an instant fail. The 991 GT3 will only rev to just over 4000rpm in neutral hence the 94db! I've been tested twice at Snetterton in the last two months, 94db both times. My mate was at Castle Coombe last month in a 997.2 GT3 and tested at 99db at ¾ revs, apparently with the sports exhaust on.
I have emailed Bedford about noise limits and they think the cars are marginal for passing noise limits. I don't want to go if it means pussy footing around the track trying to spoof the drive by mics. Might look into some decibel reducers.
I'll check out YouTube for 991's at Bedford.

Thank you - your spot on ,checked with a DB meter about 1 foot away read around 94 -96 db @ 4000 rpm however I'm booked in at a 98db at Goodwood - who have 3 drive by meters around the track - would imagine at 9000 rpm I'll be setting them all off ,be back up to around 104-105 .....

I think the drive bys at Snetterton are around 98db so you may be ok. It's quite addictive taking it to 9000 and on the track is the only place its sensible to do it over and over again. I'm in Norfolk so that's why I use Snetterton a lot. And it's a fast track where you can use full throttle more than some other tracks. I also got the Track precision app working, at least most of the time as well. It's not too bad really, if you don't have any other form of data logging, which right now I don't.

Goodwood circuit is listed as one of the tracks. The way I found it works for most UK tracks is that you have to drive the circuit first in its learning mode before the app will accept it as a valid circuit. It's a little convoluted.
You need to set yourself up with a profile, make sure the app is talking to the car by setting up the wifi spot, you need to enter your VIN number into the app. I had to create a new track, I just named it A for convenience then hopefully the app will come up with the 'Start/Stop' screen.
I found the siting laps to be a poor time to do the initial track set up lap as we ended up coming in to the pits before the lap was completed.
It takes a lot of perservance to get it working, but it's good fun when it is.
Search for the track precision app and read the FAQs as they can explain it much better than I can.

One thing I will say - there does seem to be a fair bit of variance between tracks in my experience. Testing methods vary - I registered 104+ on the static at Snetterton (997.2 GT3 sport button OFF) but then same vehicle produced 102 static at Brands. I did think at the time that the Snetts test was odd. Trouble with the static test is they always insist on 3/4 revs so even if you've got a Sport button OFF the baffles are open. I've read about a 'fix' where you can trick the exhaust vacuum switch into staying closed with a simple rubber bung...

I'd like to try Bedford as well, there are vids on youtube of 991 gt3's there so it is possible even if it's limited at some points.Holy thread resurection an' all that...
