Servicing Intervals

The last service on my 944s2 was oct 2003, full monty including fluids and belts. Since then I've done less than 5,000 miles. The book says 12,000 miles between services or once per year. Should I have it serviced once a year at 5k on average and if so what should be done?

I would say that the oil should be changed at least once per year. Have you had the belts checked (tension) since their replacement ?
