Locking wheel nuts

Anyone had any difficulties with the "key" for their locking wheel nuts?

My car has only been once to a garage for service in its life and that was OPC. Today I had to get out the locking wheel-nut key for the first time and it looks as though the inside of it has somehow got a bit mangled. Seemed to work OK though.

Anyone else had any issues?

Friend of mine posted only yesterday on Facebook that they had to weld something onto each locking nut to get them off. Someone had massively over-torqued them.
