Iv got that Porsche itch HELP !
Discussion
evening all I hope you are well
so at the title suggests the itch is becoming unbearable,
I would really like a 911 I can use 1-2 times a week and im not going to drop a load of cash on keeping it alive.
no problem at all I hear you say, the thing is I have quite a few toys already
"M3 CSL, 635csi, 328i track day car and an e90 320d company car"
I hire garages for the 3 beemers and drive the 320 as a daily and im trying to do the man maths on a 996 c4s.
I cant stomach loosing loads of cash on cars this is why the 635 and CSL cant go as they are steadily rising so im planning on not using them over the winter and I would love to get behind a 911.
I think the c4s certainly won't loose any more money and could even go up in the long run but I could be wrong please correct me if I am, I love the turbo look and think its a lot of car for the money.
what I need from you lot is the potential pitfalls and things to look for with these motors, I hear the IMS is a must replacement and I think they did a face lift on 03/04 models but any other info or advice from pervious owners would be much appreciated,
also if you think im just being greedy and I should be happy with my lot you can tell me that as I feel the same its just I might be getting married next year and if I don't get my toys now I will never get them!!!!!!!!!!
let me know your thoughts
cheers

Well I could offer you some 4 v's 2 wheel drive etc advice but I think what you really need is toy pre-wedding advice. It's a bit like the reverse of buying a car, you need to start as high as you can and ensure the benchmark is v high.
You are doing pretty well on cars, I would throw a couple of bikes and maybe even the odd boat. Big expense and hassle especially the boat so you can easily get approval for another car or whatever down the road by giving it up.....it was a foolish man that did not start marriage with a few toys in the bag......I always harp on about my bike days and missing it so much, when really I don't I always preferred Porsches and some M3 action, but the loverly lady thinks I am being sensible and considerate with no bike so she doesn't worry. Every bodies happy, as long as you get near to by not into double toy figures I Leninism all is in balance !

that my friend is sound advice !
I may have forgotten to mention I do have 2 boats as well so I may well be pushing my luck by your findings.
I really want a C4S how can I make this work ????
im thinking trying to pass it of as her car
There's no reason it could not actually be her car. That you borrow once in a while. The C4S is quite a practical motor and even widebody 996s are actually fairly narrow compared to modern sports cars, so not too bad to live with interms of car parks or narrow lanes. And the 'word' is (apparently) that a sorted 996 is better used regularly.I may have forgotten to mention I do have 2 boats as well so I may well be pushing my luck by your findings.
