Can anyone tell me what the right offsets should be on wheels to fit a Porsche 944 please, p.s. mine is a 1985 944 Turbo.

Also if anyone has got any pics of their 944 with different wheels on it could you post them, because I'm looking to find something that really suits it and am struggling.

Cheers

Trev.

Dimensions of original teledials and optional Fuchs rims of 1985 & 1986 944 turbo are :
front : 7"x16" offset 23.3 mm
rear : 8"x16" offset 23.3 mm

Offset increased in the 1987 model year to make room for optional ABS sensors (dimensions refered to by lali), 52.3 mm corresponding to the teledial rims and 55 mm corresponding to the optional forged "flat dish" rims.

Thom, not got a reference to hand, but were/are the forged alloy SE rims a bit wider than normal? for some reason I think the rears were 9j

Mine were 9j, and I thought the offsets were quite differtnt front to rear.

Best to take them off and have a look I guess.

From memory they were a bit odd on the pre ABS ones in that I found it difficult to source a spare set or rims fro track tyres.

Iggy, the rear CS rims are indeed wider.
Actually the wheel dimensions yet changed again when the turbo S (250bhp) was introduced alongside the base 220bhp car in 1988, featuring the "CS Design" rims you had on your S2.
CS Design dimensions :
front : 7"x16" / 65 mm offset
rear : 9"x16" / 60 mm offset

Those wheels then came as standard on the 1989 turbo, which featured the same running gear as '88 turbo S (engine, brakes, chassis) while the 220bhp got discontinued and "replaced" by the 944 S2.
The S2 front and rear tracks are basically the same of the 87 and 88 turbo 220bhp, except the wheels were now either the "Design 90" or again the same "flat dish" forged wheels as previously seen as optional equipment on 87 and 88 turbo 220bhp.

The 1990 model year saw the turbo being slightly revised again on the wheels side with specific "Design 90" that were used again for the last year of production 1991 :
front : 7.5"x16" / 65 mm offset
rear : 9"x16" / 52.3 mm offset

I think that's about it. I've wet myself

Have a look at the S2 in my profile. That pic has the 17" Cup 1s from a 968 which fit straight on. I currently have 17" Boxster twists on there - but no picture handy
