As I don't have a temp controlled garage filled with exotica I'm going to be storing my purchase (whatever it may end up as - likely a 996 C4S) on the driveway. I like my cars to be as pristine as possible so I want a cover for the car. I have spotted these:

Anybody got a decent alternative or advice? Would prefer a tailored fit.

I got one of these for my 996 turbo, in black, from Gert at Carnewal in Belgium.

Not cheap I know but excellent custom fit!
Sorry having read the post again I see that you are after an outdoor cover (doh)!! However, Gert appears to do these as well but no image on his website. Might be worth a phone call though.

Are you going to use the cover throughout the winter? If regularly you might find a cover a real hassle. Car must be spotlessly clean before you re-cover or cover will rub dirt etc into paint as wind moves it around.
Hi - yes likely. I doubt I will be driving in snow or the wet much. If I do then I can use quick detailer to bring it back to standard before putting the cover on. Thanks for the advice though and thanks to all those that have replied.
I use a Richbrook supersoft stretchy indoor cover and one of their tailored outdoor covers together on a couple of cars that are stored outdoors in my office car park. My theory is that the soft indoor cover prevents any scratching and because there is a gap between the covers any condensation will evaporate quirky as there is airflow between the covers and the outdoor cover is breathable. They've been on for nearly a year now and so far no problems at all.

I've had no problems with Specialist Car Covers. They do an outdoor cover and will send you a material sample. Four years on, still in great condition.
Agree. Great quality / tailored fit http://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers.html
