get the gen2, the market highly rates them and they don't have the issues of the past water cooled cars...future classic in my eyes

If you have the money go for a 'manual 997.2 C2S coupe' as there weren't many produced due to the economic downturn. They're sort after and you won't have the 997.1 engine issues which are worse than on the 996 C4S.

You should have enough for the Gen 2, so go for that. 911Virgin often have some nice ones. Make sure it's an S, IMO. I went PDK.

I'd go for a 997.2 as well (I have one so biased!). For a DD consider C2S or C4S with PDK and for a weekend hooner a C2 manual.

With your budget, I went for a 981 Cayman S PDK.

Bought a car less than a year old with 6k miles for the same money as a 4/5 year old 997.2 possibly ready for tyres/brakes etc. within a year and a generation older.

16 months down the line, I have no particular regrets as i have used the car a lot and it is now on 22k.

Very much a personal decision and depends on what you want to use the car for.

with the value of sterling high , have you considered buying a 997 in Southern Ireland ?
