Started Porsche ownership today

So after many threads and much searching I finally found a 996 C4S that was decent enough to commit to.
Painted in Midnight blue. 53,000 miles. Has got a aftermarket sat nav etc. Sunroof was deleted for some reason but bodywork and mechanicals are exceptional. New clutch and the front rads, brake disks etc etc all been sorted in last 10,000 miles.
Many thanks again to 9E and 911Virgin for giving me all the info on the car.
Only real job to do is the lights need a good detailing to get rid of the slight yellowing. Same for the rears. Once that has been done I will detail the car as although the paintwork is clean it isn't gleaming to the standard I can get it. (not sure how hard the paint is so advice before I get the buffer on it would be appreciated).
So happy. Cannot wait to pick it up. The guy needs to remove his private plate from it and then I'm good to go (have a private plate to put on it myself). Should have it in next week or so.

My 996 ownership over 4 years was abysmal, it completely sullied my dream of Porsche ownership, and has put me off the brand for life. It was an utter piece of crap.
However it seems that maybe I was just unlucky - many other people have no problems at all, and I hope that you don't either! Enjoy, and keep us updated

Indeed. My 2003 car didn't have a sunroof. In fact most I looked at didn't. Nice to have, but certainly not essential.When you say sunroof was deleted, what do you mean? It was a cost option on the C4S
Had my car for 5yrs and really enjoyed it. Mine was generally trouble free and the only large bills were for consumables (brakes/tyres) and suspension work (coffin arms etc)
OP's car looks like a good one. Enjoy it.

What a silly thing to post, OP was all excited about his new C4 and you have to spoil it, not a nice thing to do IMHOMy 996 ownership over 4 years was abysmal, it completely sullied my dream of Porsche ownership, and has put me off the brand for life. It was an utter piece of crap.
However it seems that maybe I was just unlucky - many other people have no problems at all, and I hope that you don't either! Enjoy, and keep us updated

I've had a DA polisher sitting in my garage for a year with the intention of doing the same on my 996 headlights due to the yellowing of the lens. The DA polisher came with a whole assortment of pads differing in size and colour. Is there a colour guide of which pad to use in which order when polishing? I'm never sure of the actual order your meant to compound/polish or what speed you use to cut/polish at?!
