Newbie, maybe

After being around a few friends that rave about Porsches and seeing the GT4 I am thinking of joining in, problem is with what? I currently my own a GTR and an r34 GTR, I use the r34 for track and now the Gtr drives me to work each day but my commute is about 2.5 miles there and back. I have had itchy feet a while and almost can't justify the Gtr for the drive it gets and I refer my r34 on track.

I was at Nur a few months ago and am getting tempted to get a Porsche. Now here is one of the problems, I can't get a GT4 without a huge premium and probably wouldn't be the exact spec I would want (club sport pack etc), I would love a 991 911 gt3 or rs but can't quite afford one and would be a little scared to buy at current prices.

I owned a 996 911 and loved it a few years back but want something built for track and so I can just run one car for both purposes

Any thoughts?

As above- 997 GT3 Clubsport or strech a bit more to an RS.

Yes a friend has suggested a 997 gt3 and seems about right for me. I see you mentioned an rs but aren't they alot more expensive? Also, what are the main differences between a gen one and two? Gen two look a lot nicer IMO, not a huge fan of the gen one from what I have seen

The RS does command a higher price - it really depends on what floats your boat I guess.

The main difference between the 987.1 and 2 is the 2 has a 3.8 motor compared to the 1.s 3.6. there are other differnece to the bodywork, interior, etc, but a look at this thread should help clarify them:

Think it's mainly the wheels and rear spoiler I like on the gen 2's

Check out rpm's CSR cars.
They'll source a 996 or 997 and build it into a track monster. The reviews have been fantastic. If you are ok with modifying then a good option.
