The shell will have a multi point cage welded in that's why it's still rigid as the safety cell did it's job, if that was a stock shell it would have been a different story.
It's possibly not only the cage - it is fairly common practice on race/rally cars to fully weld the chassis seams, rather than rely on (often meagre) robot welds alone.(Previous to joining us this year, one of our welders used to work on a production line correcting missed/botched robot welds for a very large OEM.)
