Dashcam - DAB interference

Purchased and fitted a Blackvue DR3500 last week to my 981 Cayman.

I'm just using the standard ciggy lighter socket and have it mounted to the left of the rest view mirror.

I put my DAB on for the first time last week and unless I'm driving up the motorway the reception is terrible and PCM keeps showing 'no signal'. Once I unplug the Dash Cam the reception returns immediately.

I grabbed a ferrite core and placed this near the ciggy lighter end of the cable but this has made little difference. Note: - the ferrite core was removed from a cable I had lying around so I don't know what frequency it is supposed to work best at.

I've tried both the glovebox and armrest inputs and both cause the DAB interference issue.

Couple of questions I have: -
1) Anyone else had this issue with a dashcam ?
2) Will hard-wiring the dashcam remove the interference issue ?
3) Can anyone recommend a ferrite core that works ?

I've had a look on this DashCam forum but there is nothing specific to Porsche.

I would say its either the PSU or RFI from the cam itself. Cams are well known for generate lots of RF.

2 Things you can do. Firstly find out what voltage is coming out of the current cigar adapter. It may not be 12v!!! If its 12v then supply 12v direct to the cam. See if it improves. If its 5v then source a remote 5v BEC and supply 5v and see what happens.

If either of those dont cure it the next step is its probably the cam not the PSU so next step is to wrap the cam in copper tape and then solder a ground to said tape and connect to the ground somewhere and test again.

If that does not cure it there is something else going on.

Ps if you to do step 2 it will probably over heat the mobo on the cam as a lot of these cams run hot.....
