Fellow PH'ers,

Friend of mine has been after a good 993 for a while now and is going up to see this on Friday. Looks good to me but does anyone know anything about it other than that which is written in the advert? Thanks

Other than written in the advert?

It doesn't appear to have stoneguards on the rear wings, the calipers have been painted red, the suspension looks lower than factory, it has a wide-bodied front PU, when the photos at Brooklands were taken it had S-02 Bridgestone on the front and Pirelli Rosso Asimmetrico on the rear, whereas the photo in front of the field has S-02 all-round (so probably a more recent photo), it's a pre-varioram engine, it has climate control, and it's a colour that you may or may not like.

...there are odd-looking metallic bezels on the instruments and the same material has replaced the factory internal door openers.....

I really like aventura, especially with the red brakes.

The gearknob is an aftermarket jobby and the drivers bolster on the comfort seat is quite worn. Fixable though.

It has the standard suspension option and no motor sound pack.

It looks pretty nice to me, but as ever a full inspection is needed. Could easily be hiding £1000's of necessary work.

If I was buying, I would be down there pronto.....

...imagine what I could tell you if it was in front of me and I had the keys....

I'm available for weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, funerals, divorce proceedings, car-inspections, difficult labors, séances, baptisms, birthdays and saints' days.

Surprising rates.

You guys reckon the suspension is standard? Perhaps I'm used to seeing photos of the american versions, but it looks low-ish to me.

Not as low as mad-Kimbos old car of course.

So an update.

Mt friend had the car inspected by JZM. 33 issues found with it. Some small but some woppers as well. Gear box, engine leaks, a/c, PU stays, door check stays, speedo not working, wishbones, ....

Needless to say a sale did not materialise ! The current owner called JZM 'pirates'! Truth hurts.

Buyer beware !

Thanks P'headers for your advice. The search goes on

Thats a car that hasnt been maintained correctly.

It would be interesting to go through the list and estimate a cost to fix.

Bet its a fat number!

Just under £10k from JZM. Something would not need to be done immediately but most would. As it stands its an MOT failure. Basic things like number plate lights out, cracked indicator lamp. But some huge issues as well. Not been maintained at all - only service this year was oil at a BMW dealer to save costs! Great shame.

Gearbox is the only surprise on that list. Did they elaborate?

FYI. The way to differentiate a 993 C2 from a C4 at a distance is Red calipers, pretty sure it
came standard out factory with Red, not being a smart arse but you seem to have a bit of knowledge and thought
I would help you further it.....

Sorry I meant Silver, I have being seeing Red all day, I am relying on information I learned
years ago, all C4s came with Silver calipers, however people do respray them
