Has anyone owned either of these ? what sort of problems can they experience and what sort of money are we looking at?

I have seen a 1989 Turbo limited edition are these more desirable than a standard Turbo ?
cheers

I have a 93 911 turbo II 3.6. It cost £35,000 and eats up huge piles of cash like pacman on four wheels. Love it.

All turbos are expensive machines to run, if you're looking to run a 911 on a budget (not wishing to sound patronising) look for a good 84-89 3.2 Carrera. Bullet proof, and reasonably low cost of ownership when you take into account zero depreciation.

If you buy a good one it shouldn't cost you much more than NA car. Tyres and brakes are defo. more expensive and you might as well fill someone else's car up at the gass station, but apart from that I fail to see where the extra expense comes in (excluding mods mine as cost approx £1k a year to run).

Turbo's are cheap, and the intercooler has no moving parts so..... take your time and find a good-un....

Yes I appreciate you cant run these type of cars on a show string thats for sure. How much are usual consumables pads discs servicing etc ?
Does anyone know if there is a pricing list anywhere so I can get an idea of how much money I should be looking at for the different models year mileage etc?
Cheers

Well, budget £5-600 for rubber, £800 for discs & pads, and full service is about £1000.

You should expect to spend £1500 a year and have £2000 handy should something need replacing. Although if you choose wisely you shouldn't need to spend anything in the first year.

Driving my turbo is always 'first date' exciting. Yesterday I was ploughing up the motorway and floored it, my thoughts were 'this thing pulls like a train in forth gear' then to realise I was in fifth.
The thrill never goes.

£30-45K based on mileage and condition.

Get a 3.3 they are simpler and cheaper and for not much money in mods you can get same performance.

You also get a much harder car to drive unless you're Mario Andretti.

...not really, lag is only an issue in 1st, after that just choose your gear appropriately...

...and fit some free flow headers which eliminate a big chunk of the lag.

but hey, why stop there when there's still a house and the family car to dispose of for more cash, children to sell into slavery etc
