A nice car if you do it yourself to your spec for fun, but for resale, there is no market

Recreations work financially if they are nut and bolt replicas of air cooled race cars. If they are accurate enough to get FIA papers then money very well spent. Look a likes are obvious another matter and come down to personal choice. Like most things motoring are subjective.

I thought the RS rep I bought was essentially a good proposition. At the time, something that looked like and very importantly drove very like the real thing for £25k when real ones were £125k. I suspect that cost ratio may still be there. The problem for the car in question is whether there is a market for it. The amount of time unsold would suggest that the market is very small.

I rather like the car. To appreciate I think you'd need to drive it. I suspect that it's a rather more intimate, analogue experience than a more modern 911. This will probably mean more feel and more fun at less worrisome speed. That could be a very good thing in our increasingly technological and quicker car world. If I was picky, I'd have liked to have seen the engine have some work as well as body and suspension, especially at this price point.

Undoubtedly a small market. I have had modded 964RS, a 993RS with "history" and others and the market is tiny. The normal punter for this type of car is rare, and once you say it's not original they become unicorn like!

That being said, which Porsche fan read evo this monthand then didn't want a Singer 911. The purist would say "bitsa", but it's a rather good one.

me, if I wanted a car like that I would do my own for £150k less, £300k is crazy money and hence you don't see many people owning them in the UK.

Talk is cheap and we see "if I have that money" etc etc but when people do have that money they buy something else.

When I last spoke the guy handling the imports (Greg Cranmer, Autowerks) there were 11 coming to the UK out of 77 deposit paid cars worldwide. That was back in May this year, the numbers may have changed since then

I would rather do a Harris project to my spec, not pay £300k on some one else dream.

200kg lighter and £150k cheaper !

does not have the daft 11" comic rear end or the daft centre fill petrol cap either :-)
