Moving home, car no longer parked in doors, what should i do

I'm moving down to London and it looks extremely likely that I will be parking my car on the street.

I'd appreciate some advice in terms of what I should do to best ensure that its kept in as good as condition as possible. I won't be using it in the week, but do plan on using a solar panel charger to keep the battery ticking over, so a cover isn't really an option, plus I've read that they can cause more damage than good.

I don't think you need to do anything. My 996 turbo was stored outside for the entire 5.5 years I owned it - made no difference to it whatsoever.

Obviously avoid parking under trees etc.

park it next to all the other high ends cars on the street - usual common sense rules apply - not outside a pub, under a tree, end space near tight junction

Keep plenty of wax or acrylic sealant on it.

How often do you plan to drive your car? My 997 C2S can easily do 3-4 weeks without the battery going flat (it's in an underground garage, but it shouldn't make a difference), so you may not need the solar panel thing

On safety, it really depends which part of London you are moving to, in some it will obviously stick out more than in the other areas....

Just choose a decent area! I used to live near Finsbury Park (cool area actually), the three cars I had there were all keyed over the years.

Now I live in Barnet (suburban and leafy) , no problems. Perhaps look into renting a local garage if you're worried...

For a garage it's just basically pick a large number Other option is to rent from the council - I've just got a garage in Putney 12 mins walk from my place at £75pcm, but I applied back in February and got lucky. My gf's application went in at the same time and they say they *might* have something available in 3-4 months Can't wait to move out of town!
