Bucket seats are great for the track and they help make the car feel special.
I would really appreciate to hear (only) from people with bucket seats (sorry but this is PH) about what they are like to live with.
I appreciate they are not going to be as comfy as standard seats, but how less comfy are they and do you care? If you are sat in the car for long enough to make it bother you? Standard seats (in the GT4) are great on the track too, so it is not about track driving but on the roads. Do they rattle your bones too much for UK roads and rob too much comfort?

I had sports seats on my 7.1 GT3 for my 4yrs and 25,000 miles ownership.I was unsure about whether to go for the bucket seats as that was my first GT car. I spec'd Bucket seats on my 7.2 RS that replaced it and had the car for three and a half years and did 21,000 miles. Mostly drives and trips to Europe and some small amount around town. This is what I found about the buckets :
- They either fit you or do not. I felt comfortable, my wife ( wider hips, short ) did not.
- Around town you sit slightly low and need to pull the seat forward for better vision.
- For me they were very comfortable and I did not find them hard. ( I'm 5.11" and 85 kgs, 61 yrs and 38 hips ).
- I liked the way the seat wrapped around you and you became one with the car.
- They restrict access to the rear ( bags etc ) but I managed by using many smaller bags.
- I've spec'd them on my new RS and I'd do the same if I was getting a GT4.
For an normal carrera or S I'd not spec them

My GTS has bucket seats, and before that I fitted fixed position Recaro Pole Position buckets in my TTRS. For some reason I never get back ache with these seats on the commutes I regularly do which can be 2 to 5 hours on a mix of A and B roads and motorways. Also I never have a wish to adjust the rake or height, might be because you can't.
Most other cars I drive with leather normal seats ensure I have back ache within about 2 hours.
Perhaps it depends on your size though, I am a slim 5ft 6 so they never feel too tight.

2000miles so far in LWB's in GT4. Outstanding seats. More comfortable than GT3 buckets (all variants). Very solid when cornering hard. Comfortable in passenger seat as well. Longest stint of 10 hours with only fuel and Chunnel stops no problems at all. Harness holes are perfectly placed, only minor gripe is the crutch strap chafing the inner thighs after a long run. They also look the dogs nads, what's not to like?

I have a 997GTS with bucket seats and I find them the most comfortable seats I've owned for long or short journeys. Getting in and out of them is not the eases or most graceful and when I do have to hop in and out frequently they do get cursed. As a previous poster said my wife also doesn't like them although a big part of that is the gettin in/out on the passenger side when you don't have steering wheel to hold on to.

Hi, I have done around 2,000 miles in my GT4 with 918 style light weight bucket seats, and find them really comfortable. I had folding buckets in a recent 991 GT3, and these were just as comfortable, I did Italy and back in 2 days in these seats, and never wished for a different seatI would really appreciate to hear (only) from people with bucket seats (sorry but this is PH) about what they are like to live with.

How upright are the 918 seats in the gt4 compared to folding buckets?BubblesNW said:
Did 3 hours in mine yesterday on the roads, motorway, A roads and sat in traffic. No problem at all with the 918 style buckets. Also had the previous style buckets in my 987 Cayman and these were a little snugger across the shoulders but no less comfortable. HTH.

in a standard car I last about 2 hours and get numb bum !, the base seems rock hard to me, the buckets are way more padded.

In running in I ended up doing almost 500 mies on country roads and I have to say, the seats just did their job.
They also work very well on track.
