Do PCCB's smell different?
Discussion
Sorry if this has been covered before, but when I park the GT4 in the garage after a quick blat up the twiddly bits on the way home there is a very odd smell. the best I can liken it too is the smell of cooking a ham and cheese toastie on the Aga! It's a sort of warm bread with a metallic overtone.
I have never had Ceramics before and I can only assume it comes from them? I quite like it just as long as it's nothing to worry about.
Any ideas?

brilliant...Put it away this afternoon and there was a light cloud of smoke coming of the rear brakes! Along with the odd smell. Wonder if that's why the economy is so poor! Must be the electronics fighting a loosing battle with the wheelspin?
Sure that non of the GT3's ever did that. Apart from driving more slowly what's the easiest way to stop the rear brake interventions?

Er, change it for a 996 GT3? Apart from driving more slowly what's the easiest way to stop the rear brake interventions?

I didn't realise the GT4 had PASM. I guess it must be a standard fit to the GT cars. IIRC, Steve Rance is in the process of 'correcting' this issue on his 7GT3.

Best disguised "oive got a longer drive than yow" post on PH for a long time ! !
FWIW, I've seen some decent quality datalogging figures of brake temps after hard use and a cooling down lap, a quarter of a mile allowing your brakes to cool down at the speeds you negotiate your drive at will have next to no impact on brake temperatures.
This is road driving, yes ?FWIW, I've seen some decent quality datalogging figures of brake temps after hard use and a cooling down lap, a quarter of a mile allowing your brakes to cool down at the speeds you negotiate your drive at will have next to no impact on brake temperatures.
And you haven't seen how bumpy my drive is, --- no bragging rights in this

Good for turbos as well ...

Likely the combination of PSM and PTV. Sure that non of the GT3's ever did that.
PSM brakes for stability and traction, PTV brakes the rear wheels to aid turn in and make the car feel more agile. Former can be disabled, latter is always on no matter what.

Turn off traction control completely, drive very slowly and only in a straight line. Avoid corners at all costs.

There is no need to perform any kind of "cooling down routine" on a modern car especially after road driving no matter how "spirited" it may be
Really? So I come into the village at 1.5 leptons and pull on the drive and switch off. 6000 revs to 0 in 20 secs is good. No more oil swirling around to exchange heat, just off?
I'm asking honestly
