Air con 2006 cayenne

Hi all,
I have had a new compressor fitted by a local garage not a Porsche specialist but is for Mercedes. The compressor/air con does still not work and I am now £1000 worse off and the garage has washed his hands with it basically telling me he can't find the fault. I asked him did he check the relays he told me there were no relays to check on this car for the air con. Is this true??? If it has where will it be located?

Also do you have to erase the fault code with Porsche when a new part is fitted?

What I don't want to do it throw a great deal more money at it.

Hi Matt its very rare for this type of compressor to have any issues,
I have had 5 porsches with same issue and all of them were down to
Intake air temp sensor misreading,this can be read with PIWIS tester.
The ones i had were showing between -10 and - 25 Deg C.

Thanks for the reply. I do think I have been ripped off on this one. Where is this sensor located And would you know if it's an easy job. I have only had car a few weeks and after contacting last owner he said was working fine before he traded it so I can't imagine much has gone wrong.

Hi Matt, you ave to take the glovebox out and its straight in front of you, part number is 955.572.304.10, but need to check against chassis number just to confirm.

Thanks for your reply. Car has gone to VW via a friend to what comes up if anything on the codes. If they can't find anything I will start with that sensor.

Hi Chris,
The sensor came today after a wait. I fitted it but still no luck. Just a quick question. When I had the new compresser fitted does it need to go on the Porsche machine to say that a new one has been fitted to the car or is it basically plug and play and as soon as fault is repaired it will work. I have been told even if all repairs are done it will never work until it's been on the Porsche reset machine.

Hi Matt,no you dont have to clear or reset the system.
Can u send me chassis number and a photo of the sensor you have replaced.
I will look on the Porsche parts system to make sure its the correct
sensor.

I am sorry to hear you have a few problems with your recent purchase. In my experience it can be cheaper in the long run to use an OPC rather than using other non porsche garages. I needed a new catylst and aircon faults dealt with under a third party warranty and the only way I got the job done properly was an OPC.
