I have an oil leak which is somewhere from the tank part of the system. I have replaced most of the hoses and I still have the tank losing small ammounts of oil which drops onto the exhaust system and I am struggling to find where its coming from. Has anyone else had any similar experiences with 964/5 machinery and is there a common cause like the tank itself?

How do you know it is from the tank?

Mine had leaks but none originated from the oil tank,it was from the main oil feed pipe, which i have since replaced.

There also is another prone place which is the rocker cover gasket, but if you rub your finger on the unerside you will soon see.

ta for the suggestions its not the rocker cover. It may be the oil feed pipe but its hard to see.

The only way you are going to find your leak is steam your engine off and check it every time you take her out.

While stuffing small mammals into the engine bay may stop the leaks, the smell of overcooked rabbit will soon become intolerable

could be the filter drain plug, either of the hoses, the rocker covers, the oil sender on the topside of the block or something else, you need to do as has been said before and give it a bl00dy good clean first.
