996 c4s help w expected costs

Hi all

I'm trying to get a view on cost of a list of jobs that a prospective purchase (2003 996 c4s) will need over the next few years, the first three are immediate requirements:

Battery - Bosch/Verta ~ £100
A/C condensers & cooling rads both sides - £600 fitted?
Cam cover heat shields both sides - £300 fitted?

Polyrib belt replacement - ?
Side exhaust (PSE) box replacement (seams rusting) - parts £600 +VAT plus fitting
Fastener corrosion on exhaust system - grind out rusted fixings and replace - ?? (I gather this is the type of job that can be ok if lucky or a total nightmare if not)
Long rigid brake line corroded, replaceent - ?
Clutch replacement, RMS - £1000
IMS as part of clutch same job - £800-1000

As you can see I have tried to do my research on potential costs, any updates or additions appreciated.

I recently had both rads and condensors done on my CS at an indy and it came to about £1k.

Ref the silencer i had the baffles go and found a decent workshop who opened it up, welded it up again, and then welded the seams back. Cost pprox 100 notes.

I think you need to factor in a couple of other regular items on an older 996:

Lower suspension arms/balljoints - these are the same on all corners @ about £70 each from Euro spares

Disks/pads about £500 all in d.i.y

Good on you for checking out the costs in advance, as you have identified they aren't cheap to run, my experience with the older cars is minimum £1k a year on bits and bobs. My 986 2.5 cost me about £4k in under 2 years. The 997 has cost me more like £8k in 3 years. The reliable one was the 2 year old boxster that I kept for 4 years and only had a gear linkage go in that time, but I guess you can't buy a 2 year old Porsche for £20k any more.

Anyway, clutch could be closer to £1500 if the flywheel needs doing and you can't tell till you open it. If it has been driven with any slippage at all then the flywheel can scorch & need changing
I really wouldn't bother with IMS on a 996. If it hasn't gone in 10 years of use... that is a personal choice though

Did you get it inspected by a garage or inspector or yourself? If garage, which one? Reason I ask is that I have been told before that various parts of my exhaust system needed replacement but Northway has always welded it for me for next to no cost, and I have never replaced a single component other than studs straps and shields. I would have spent £1000's if I had done whatever the other garages advised

Brakes are recent all round - discs and pads so no concern there. Suspension in decent order according to the inspection report.

@jakesmith - Peter Morgan inspection, I am impressed. Very comprehensive report, 20pp inc multiple photos, plenty of opinion on condition. Great negotiation tool and if I proceed to purchase I’m going in with my eyes open, and the report will baseline the history I will add during my ownership. If I walk away then I know why.
