It's more a case of why wouldn't you have it done? Had the oil changed at 1000 miles on the GT3 and will definetly have the same done on the RS. I was always planning on having it done, I just wanted to understand at what mileage point would be best for this particular engine.I changed mine at 1500 miles, then did a proper geo set-up and track day clear film application, and finished the running in at Oulton Park --- notching up 2000 miles as I reversed into the yard at the end of a 350 + mile day ....
Being a real nutcase, I also changed the gearbox oil at 2250 miles ... 'had to wait for the correct oil, but got a proper post track day spanner check done at the same time.
I figure, it can't hurt.

I notice the servicing has been reduced from 20k miles /2years to 12k miles 2 years. I intend to get oil changed at 2 k miles then go all the way to the 2 year service point as I normal service early at about 18 months!
But the miles I do the car will be nearly a year old when I hit 2k miles

but a new filter is about £15 and you can get 10 litres of Mobil 1 for £70. I would baulk at paying anyone £230 for the amount of actual labour and effort needed to change the oil and filter!
Good idea getting it thrown in instead of the fripperies on handover, otherwise, DIY or any decent garage.
I know it's a £75k+ car by the time it has the required options and that for some people this is a petty amount, it's the rapaciousness of the dealers that really gets to me, not the amounts.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Mine seems to think that he did me a favour selling me the car (because it's worth overs) and that I have that money in my pocket. Maybe true if I was a flipper but they quoted me a silly number for an oil change and they seemed to think I was a bit daft for wanting to change the oil as it wasn't necessary in their view. They wanted £350 to do an oil and filter change on my 987 CS!! If you were to take it to an indy, so long as they use genuine parts and you don't have the book stampted, you could save circa £200 without the warranty being affected.
