I'm taking delivery of a new manual Cayman tomorrow, which will be my first ever car with an electronic parking brake.

I have two questions which I'm hoping existing owners of manual 981s or 991s will be able to help me with.

1. If you were to leave the car parked in a garage for a considerable length of time, do you leave it in gear without the e-brake thing on (like I would do in a manual car with a proper handbrake), do you put it in gear and put the e-brake on, or do you leave it in neutral with the e-brake on? Or something else?

2. If you want to make a quick getaway at the lights or similar, how do you hold the car on the handbrake whilst in first gear with a dipped clutch and some revs applied - as you would in a manual car before releasing the handbrake and the clutch? From what I understand, the e-brake would release as soon as you apply revs when you're in first gear, so how do you make a quick start without frying the clutch?

All advice appreciated!

Picked up my car last weekend and first e-brake and hate the bloody thing! I believe when you touch the accelerator when in gear it automatically releases.i think you can leave in gear handbrake on or off but you have to press brake to engage / disengage which is annoying as you have to get in the car with keys in ignition if you want for instance to push/move it a couple of inches in your garage!
