GT2RS roll cage..
Discussion
Hi
I recently aquired the GT2RS GT Silver from Hexagon Classics, it is a car from New Zealand. In the fromnt foot wells it has circular cuts in the carpets and if you lift this up there are bolts for a front cage to be fixed.... was this a standard part of the Clubsport package, or is it concerning ? Apologies if its an ill informed question , trying to get peace of mind.
Car originally beloned to Andrew Whittaker of Whittaker chocolate Co in NZ if this rings any bells ?
Thanks

May be wrong but don't believe the 2RS came with full cage.
He did race the 2RS, which is well recorded, so would assume (maybe uncorrectly) that he had the full cage fit by one of the specialists who do such, to comply with the racing regulations.
I'm sure someone who owns, or has owned one, will be along shortly to confirm.

All 3.8 RS / 4.0 RS (and I assume 997 GT2 RS) with clubsport rear cage have the bolt points under the front carpet for a front cage too. If yours already has the foam material or surface carpet perforated edges cut then at some point it had a front cage installed.
The 3.8 / 4.0 RS front cage is a lot more substantial than previous front cages with double A-pillar bars, lower sill bars, and a cross section roof bar over driver's head.
Personally I would say there is nothing to worry about. Many european delivered RSs have front cages - less common on UK cars.
