If you’d got your name down for the new C7S (or whatever it ends up being called) but fancied having it finished to your own specification. Have any of the collective had any first hand experience of the Porsche ‘special wishes’ option to accommodate such a wish?

If lets say you wanted your car in a now unavailable colour such as Viper Green or Blood Orange or maybe a Riviera Blue what would you expect to have to pay for the factory to mix up a batch and paint your car in such a shade?

Or perhaps there is a colour from another manufacturer which tickles your fancy, can this be done and would it cost more?

many thanks

I know this can be done but I don't know how much it costs.

However, I LOVE your way of thinking. All 3 colours would look amazing on the C7.....especially a Clubsport. What about Maritime blue? I slightly prefer that to Riviera.

'Colour to sample' is a £2180 (inc VAT) option for the 911 & Boxster, according to the Porsche Car Configurator.

Sounds like a cool idea - my only concern is whether the lead times are longer for special orders.

I've seen some great 'colour-to-sample' cars in the past at the Factory, like a bright orange GT3.

What you will find is that the salesman will actively discourage you from ordering colour-to-sample, by scaring you about the re-sale price. A friend of mine wanted to order a bright orange GT3 and was told to expect a £5k lower bid than silver or black come re-sale time.

Personally I'd like to go for a Lamborghini colour, like the lime green or bright orange on a Carrera GT.....

Guy

PS Before anyone corrects me it was really bright orange, not Zanzibar Red.

Many thanks folks it seems as though this might have legs in it then.

As the current project of importing the De Tomaso from Australia is now well under way I was back to turning my attentions to the fact I’ve had the 993 for three years now and its time for a shake up.

On discussion with the very learned 993 RSR earlier in the week and left feeling that with a wedding to pay for this year having another GT2 in Suffolk will have to go on the back burner for 12 months. I trust JC if you are reading this that I might get to have a look at her when she’s done? A more demonic bit of kit does not exist in these parts and I have a feeling a certain car dealer just west of Bury will be put firmly in his place at a track day soon?

The discussion did centre on the 993 TT in Riviera blue at 911 Virgins and what a good colour it was or at least that was my view. In the last few weeks I have also bunged the letter of intent into the local OPC for a C7S (CS when available) and so the old mind got working. I rather concur with the view that a car like that ought to be in a traditional bright Porsche shade and ‘in my humble’ would not affect future value one bit.

I’ve seen a 965 S in mint green which looked A1, a 965 in Maritime which looks equally good and of course cars from the 70’s in the likes of Viper Green which looked fantastic as well. I think a car like this needs to be done in something similar to really bring out the true intent of the car.

I have to agree that some of the Lambo colours are superb.

Colour to Sample takes between 6 and 12 months over a standard colour.

I ordered a Boxster S in Polar which is an exclusive colour and was told it would take 3 months extra to come through. In the end it actually turned us quicker as they had a batch of Polar cars going through, so it got moved forward.

Cheers Sean

Good man JC, I saw the dealer in question out this morning in H1 1 FLY and was struck by the need to see him blown away by the ‘Uber- Chester-Wagen’

As for VR doing the he’s just going to have a few months until the De T is up and running or maybe not!
