This is the first time I have ever been interested in a Cayman! Cayman S will be 4.2 0-62mph, it's faster than the 911 equivelent, I'm struggling to justify where the extra money goes, the new 4 Cylinder 2.5 interests me, it's lighter, better balanced, nearly as much power, faster, better all round... Apart from its not a 911 haha, what's your opinion on it all? I think it looks great value for money,

Have those 0-62mph stats been confirmed? I'm expecting the 718 Cayman S to be a little bit better than the 718 Boxster S tech specs which I think you have quoted above. On the basis that the 981 Cayman S slightly outperforms the 981 Boxster S. Maybe a 0-62mph in 4.0 secs (PDK)

Depends how it drives and sounds. However, it looks expensive to me.I'm just an owner haha! Had loads of C2s and said I would never buy a baby 911 lol, but I'm changing my mind
I was quoting the Boxster S, figured it was a worst case scenario, 4seconds flat is quite a car
I really do like the styling, I jut hope the Cayman looks as good! The engine doesn't worry me at all nor the sound, there's always things you can do

How is a 4-pot better balanced than a 6-pot? Cylinder multiples of 3 are evenly balanced due to the 120 degrees. When Porsche couldn't find a V6 to put in the 944 and reluctantly had to use a straight 4-pot, they did a brilliant job of balancing it with balancer shafts etc, and I dare see this new 4-pot will be a good, but surely it can never be better balanced than a 6-pot, even as a boxer?Nimerino said:

The Cayman will look broadly similar I'm sure, and be as quick. GTS versions will be silly fast.
But I despise what they've done to the engine. I'll take a slower car with more personality any day of the week.
