Hi all,

I have just purchased a 928 S4.

Whilst the car is located in Australia, it is actually an import from the UK.

Regrettably, it had no documentation relating to its 22 years in the UK (87-2009)

Can someone tell me - is there any way I can hunt down anything of interest based on VIN alone? Can I purchase a report from HPI or similar that may tell me anything such as number of owners, recorded mileage at times of ownership transfer, etc?

I have managed to find one UK based service receipt...wondering if I could contact this person with a view to finding out what services they commissioned, and then contact the respective garage for re-prints of these invoices?

I only do this because....as 928 prices are clearly on the up and up in Oz, the more documentation one can find attesting to the provenance of a car, the more valuable it becomes. (or so I hope)

Cheers,

Also try the Porsche Club of Great Britain. You can post on their forum as a guest too. If any of the owners registered it with the club, the 928 register secretary might be able to help.

Write to the dvla and ask them for the details of all former keepers. There's a small fee to pay, but then you can contact the former keepers.

Thanks to everyone for these suggestions. They are all appreciated - and I will be acting upon them.
