Son has a 1986 one with approx 150k miles.
It probably needs about £1k spending on the paintwork and engine to bring it to good condition and he's thinking of selling.
Toying with buying it as a company car for everyday use.
Are they ok for everyday driving?

Good car, I owned one for over 6 years and used it every day.
Mine was a manual S4.
Smooth torquey drive.
Just rememeber whatever you have to pay in running it pails into absolute insignificance compared to depreciation of a modern conformist contemporary snooze mobile. THAT's the midset to be in when you get quoted expensive parts prices for things such as clutches, ignition system components or cooling system hardware.
