RS Trackday at Oulton Park - still on ?
Discussion
Hi there,
Cannot seem to find any threads on this and with it being about 2 weeks away just wondered if it was still happening ?
I've booked the day off work as I am planning to attend to spectate/photograph but just wanted to gauge how many people and approx how many cars were going ?
Regards
Tim

I was there yesterday & was told that they'd got the largest reserve list ever & that it would very likely be the Island circuit as work to rebuild the gravel traps etc. round Island bend has been held up by the depth of mud! Apparently, the MSA has demanded changes due to the large number of accidents at Island involving motorbikes flipping over the banking. Oulton are not allowed to use that part of the circuit until it gets the MSA seal of approval.
I suspect the RS day will be rammed, as usual

Do you mean the banking at Shell? I have done countless motorbike race and trackdays over the past decade amd attended most top level bike racing at Oulton and have never once seen a single bike go over the banking. It is nigh on impossible to do that. No idea where you got that made up story from. I suspect the RS day will be rammed, as usual

Island is the left hander before Shell Oils. Too many carry too much speed in here and s**t happens.
Most people go through there much slower than is possible if driven correctly. When I called MSVR a few weeks ago I was told it was Shell hairpin that was being changed, but the reason might have been to mitigate the damage done by people coming off Island bend (either to themselves, vehicles, marshals or scenery/barriers).thegoose said:

Going through flat in the Radical SR3 is just brilliant, does get horrible if it goes wrong though. Not planning on any of that in the 911 on Friday. Current forecast is wet first thing then drying.
