Exhaust nuts and bolts...
Discussion
Hi Gents
Getting my 997.2 exhaust mufflers 'Grundo hacked' - however all the nuts and bolts look absolutely rusted and seized !!!
Got someone coming out to take the nuts and bolts off, but I don't really want to reuse any so would like to take the opportunity to replace all the nuts and bolts across the exhaust system.
However I'm not sure what nuts and bolts I exactly need or where I can get them - is there a standard kit of nuts/bolts I can buy for example?
Thanks in advance

yes it's pretty amazing not sure what they made the exhaust screws out of but it seems slightly less durable than cardboard!
I replaced all of mine with stainless steel ones, which most people seems to do, the others ones seem to last a max of 5 years, but even after a couple of years they would probably round off if you tried to unscrew them.
I got mine from Design911, they have a stainless steel pack, not that cheapest but then design911 never really are, but good screws, they have them on ebay i think too. I also did a Gundo hack with a 1.75inch pass through, very nice, sounds great and no motorway boom noise, very happy with it.

You will almost certainly end up with a few flange bolts shearing, but these are a viable solution: http://www.timesert.com/
The alternative is your manifolds will eventually start blowing and in a worst-case scenario, fall off.

One thing is for sure:-
If the bolts are rusty now, they will only become more difficult to remove as time goes on.
If you look online there are numerous suppliers of stainless nuts and bolts. You can buy more than you need for less than a fiver.
I can't fathom out why the manufacturer of such a "prestige" car skimps a few pennies on these particularly corrosion prone parts????
The exhaust and manifolds are stainless so why not the fixings

I have the same issue noted for the last 12 months at service. I imagine SS replacement bolts would render the entire warranty void if I didn't replace with their super corrosive OEM ones! But it does make you think about replacing with a Hayward and Scott bypass pipe whilst you're at it...
