My spec, let me know what you think.

Having read some of the other threads, I'd just like to say I am not a flipper or an investor. I love manual cars and have built a little collection of the last great manual cars. I have a Ferrari F430, a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and a TVR Sagaris. I think the R will be a terrific addition to the collection. I drive all my cars regularly, including track days, so this one at least will be driven as it should be.

White with Red Stripes and Black Side Decals and Red Lettering
Leather Interior Package Black
Taillights with Clear Glass
Headlight Cleaning System Covers Painted
Lightweight Battery
Single-mass Flywheel
Front Axle Lifting System
Sport Chrono Package
Standard Wheels
Personalised Carbon Floor Mats
Car 311/991 (my birthday is 31 January)

Out of curiosity, given ownership of a 911R seems to have the prerequisite of being an established Porsche buyer (ideally a 918), how early did you show your interest?

I was the second notification of interest and the first deposit paid at the beginning of October. I have bought two new high spec'd cars in the last three years and have a good relationship with my OPC. One advantage of my OPC was that they didn't sell any 918s and that by the date of the launch they had 6 orders with £10k deposits, that all went in on the launch day. My OPC got two and I was one of them. The other one went to the person who had the fist notification of interest who had previously bought 10 new cars from the OPC. Not sure what period that was over.

I guess I did ask for thoughts on the spec so I guess I can't complain at the advice but I like the clear lights so they will be staying. Sorry guys.

Cheers.

Sorry I missed that last one. Yes, no pcm. The car will be making all the noise I need.

You might say that, I might say someone else simply having a good relationship with their dealer through being a good customer and a decent and civil person.

Maybe you should try it some time?

Thanks sidicks. Fist time I have ever had that particular insult aimed at me. Not really sure how it applies either. I bought two cars, both of which I wanted, I spec'd and then negotiated hard on price. I am guessing he is just a little upset because he didn't get one which I can understand.

The reason I mentioned who got the other one was because there has been a lot of talk on the forums about the OPCs selling to flippers knowingly. I was demonstrating that at least in this case that was not the case. They took 6 orders from good customers and then gave the two they got to the first two of that group to make a commitment. Not really sure how they could have been any fairer.

Manual 640 a Sag and a 911R - congrats, very cool.

Do you need the lift? seems like sth that just adds weight and complexity
Personally not a fan of the stripes or clear headlights - otherwise sounds like a great spec

I'm just curious how you managed to put a deposit down in October for a car that didn't officially seem to exist back then ??

Most (all) OPCs hold multi deposits on cars that officially don't exist but are likely to come along in due course. Typically an OPC will take £10k off you for as long as it takes. I would be 12th in line at my OPC for the 991.2 GT3. The Dealer holds 5 deposits for the next GT2 for example as well.

It seems that, having not got allocated an RS, he's been having tantrums ever since and likes to cast aspersions on those who did get cars, rather than just accept it and move on.

He's got numerous other super cars etc, so I think he's just used to having people pander to whatever he wants. Quite amusing to see how bitter he's become!!
