Was that because it exceeds the number of times you can legally put the word lava in an advert?

Quite right too. Derek Bell recently commented on driving one - it belonged to a track addict who had racked up over 7,000 miles on tracks across Europe. What-a-boy!As someone who owns one ( in Lava lava lava),there is no way in the world I would pay that kind of money or anything close to it. At MSRP the car is a very good buy in my view..but as Harris observed in his video, the prices being asked now mean it has to be compared to much more expensive cars. I assume VAT is on top of the quoted price?

Mine is no garage queen..did 3000 miles in first two weeks including a rally and tracking it at both the Nordschleife and the Nürburgring F1 track. The car is not an investment financially for me, but an investment in driving experience.you lucky sod RDMcG !
I'll start with the caveat that I drive all my cars , 73rsr in the wet at spa and silverstone etc etc . It's not as simple as that . The thing is someone who can just about afford a 991rs without really stretching themselves must be faced with a serious dilemna , the overs is a year or twos wages . People have a family to feed , I can see the temptation . It's not something I'd do but I can completely get it , I think this current market is turning non flippers into flippers , it's gone mad .'as for someone who really stretched themselves the temptation must be unbearable .

I remember you bought your 918 down to Spa last year having only got it very recently and as usual it was totally slashing down!! I agree with you too. A good friend of mine has just very fortunately got himself a 991 RS, has never flipped any of his cars and genuinely loves the drive but even the DP of his OPC said we dont like the practice but we also understand with people being offered literally double what they paid it must be a very tough decision sometimes. If someone has worked very very hard and had a real doubt at spending £150k ish (inclu options etc) on a car for someone to walk up and say there is £300k it becomes an even more different ball game I think.wtdoom said:

That's a good point that I had not considered. I tend to keep my cars for long periods, adding rather than replacing, so what a car is worth in (say) six months or even five years does not make much difference to me, but your observation makes a lot of sense.berty37 said:

Haha , that's right it was the 3rd day I owned it . Absolutely 150gtand for nothing is no joke , it's easy for everyone to throw stones but the market goes the other way just as easily . I'm not condoning this , just offering an alternative view , I maintain this market is so crazy it's turning non flippers into flippers .

Absolutely ,how many mortgage payments is 150k for non collectors ? I genuinely believe the Porsche Dealer Network is trying to do something about the "flippers." After a long conversation with my DP he stressed that in the future potential buyers of the GT cars and similar will be screened and their buying history thoroughly checked. As has already been stated it would not be a difficult process. In the future buyers will virtually be invited with the results policed by Porsche themselves who I also feel are planning to take some of the heat out of the used market. The introduction of the 991.2 GT3 with the option of a manual gearbox possibly makes the 911R to some buyers not quite so desirable. It is all very clever.
I am totally blown away by my RS and so far have received a couple of staggering offers to sell. There is no way that I would as I know that doing so could well jeopardise future purchases. In the meantime it will be used as intended by Porsche or indeed do my best to do so.

I am in Canada and was required by Porsche to sign a non-export contract for the first 12 months of ownership. A lot of Canadian cars end up in the US, and with the steep decline in the Canadian dollar ( from par to 75 cents) meant that there was a lot of money to be made by flipping.
