Improving 996 audio set up

I have a relatively expensive 2 DIN head unit in my car that sits on a Android type OS. It is dreadful. To make matters worse the sound comes out of the dash mounted speakers but I don't seem to have anything from the door speakers. All round is rubbish.

Anyone know what speaker sizes all round are in place and also has anyone recommendations for a Apple CarPlay compliant head unit?

Finally does anyone know of a decent sub I can put somewhere in the cabin?

I'm not after a stupid boy racers set up but I do love decent audio (which meant I wasn't bothered not having the Bose set up as it is a bit rubbish)

Sure you haven't got a factory amp?

Sounds like you are not even driving the amp and only the centre speaker that runs off the head unit directly.

If you have door speakers then I think the car has a factory amp.

I have no door speakers in mine, just dash top and rears and hence no factory amp. The sound was significantly improved by using alpine speakers behind the standard grills.

986/996 door speakers are always subs - don't know what the crossover frequency is but they'll be difficult to hear. If you've not replaced the dash speakers yet, that should be your first job.
