997 replacement key £379.61 from Porsche Silverstone

I have just been quoted £379.61 for a replacement key for my gen 2 997 c4s, I'm sure it has been asked before but does anyone know where I can get one cheaper?

I've got 1 which is actually falling apart but no spare so want a back up.

At the same time I was quoted over £650 to fit Universal Audio Interface, guess I'll just buy a sports exhaust and listen to sound of the engine instead.

Its usually the small plastic lugs that break off inside the key which makes it fall apart. Buy one of these and transfer your blade and internals over if its all working as it should be:

Thanks, I've ordered one which will fix my current key. I'd still like a spare just in case I loose it though.

You could try one of the key replacement services. No idea if they do Porsche. We used a guy recently two cut/code two new keys for our VW Golf (wife lost the only key). He came to our home with a van, supplied two OEM VW Keys fully coded and cut for the same price VW would have supplied one for.

I'm based in Northamptonshire but if he can do Porsche keys at a reasonable price it might be worth travelling

Nothing ventured nothing gained! I wonder why he can't do programme Porsche keys? Although the good news is that probably means they're hard to steal.

I asked him where he started....did a course in Bristol for ten days and then bought all the equipment online. Asked if they did background checks on people who did the course..."no"

I needed a spare as well. Had the blade made by https://keysinthepost.com/ from a photo(it works perfectly)and then the fob purchased and programming done at OPC. Total was about £220. Still a lot but a worthwhile saving from £380.
