Suggestions on upgrading 993TT Headlamps

Although I may get round to doing the 9M Xenon upgrade, is there a definite improvement from replacing normal bulbs with supposedly high performance equivalents such as Philips Vision Plus? Any other suggestions?

I did a xenon upgrade myself a few months back, and it's worth the extra. Forget about any of these "clever" bulbs, they'll burn your wiring out if they're higher wattage, and if they're not higher wattage you won't get much of a difference.

I got some bulbs from powerbulbs.com

I got the osram silver star ones. They were brighter no question.

However the lights went from really S**t to just S**t

Wouldnt say I was dissapointed because they were cheap but I wasnt overly impressed either.

id say a minor improvement may be worth a try.

Which model did you take (assuming yours is also a 993)and were all fitting instructions supplied.?
Also, was it a relatively straightforward job.

There is an improvement but it is marginal.

HID upgrade is the only way to go.

I went for the 4300k kit. The 6000k kit is bluer, but apparently the light output is highest from around 4100 to 4300k. It's the H1 kit for 993's.
Instructions supplied? Didn't really look much. It's pretty straightforward really, and my pictures should help you a lot. I could always give you my phone number if you get stuck.

Oh, but i didn't use the supplied relays since the power consumption of the new lights is lower - i did swap the 15A fuses for 20's though because there is a moment when the igniters fire that uses a bit more power.

Whether or not you change the bulbs for brighter halogens or go with an HID conversion it's time well spent taking the lights out and taking the lenses off and cleaning the lenses and reflectors. I just did this and was quite surprised at the difference.

Verysideways, thanks for further info which clarifies all. Last question, what was shipping cost and what(if any) were import charges ?
At $449 (about £250) they seem good value ex works.

Shipping inclusive - didn't get import charges, but if you did i guess it'd be around £43 or so (VAT).

The reason i bought the kit i bought was because i know people who have had problems with ballasts - apparently the most expensive part of the kit.
The best ballasts (so i've been told by numerous different sources) are the Philips ones.
The kit i bought is supplied with Philips ballasts (that's one of the main reasons i bought it!).
