BBS Mag centred wheels

As much as these are beautiful wheels, they have a reputation for delicacy. I understand many have now replaced the mag centres for the E88 aluminium centres (Carnewal offers a kit).

As I have mag centred wheels on a newly acquired car, I wondered if I could tap into the PH knowledge and see what the real world experience was with these? Hoping to understand the risks better. Suitably informed, I can then make a decision to use the wheels, replace the centres or consign to the attic.

I have seen a few sets appear in the 964 crowd recently, so what is the experience? Clearly the wheels were made for and put up with all kinds of race abuse back in the day, so is it age that is the issue now or quality of our roads or what?
