Would you rent out your Porsche to someone you know?

Hiya - I have a question.

My brother lives in California and drives a 997 turbo cab. He will be visiting the UK this summer (as he does every year) and would love to drive a Porsche (convertible) for a day or two around our splendid countryside rather than a POS from Hertz. I don't think money is a huge issue (as he realises that it's not going to be free). If we could find a way to make an agreement (including short term insurance and all the rest of the due diligence), would any one be up for earning a few hundred quid for a couple of days rental ?

Most of the major car hire companies have 'prestige' or luxury car options, but it's very location specific. Of course, London is the easiest. Worth noting HR Owen have a new service, but there are plenty of independent places around too.

You're looking at around £700 for a Porsche for a couple of days, but the excess deposit will be significant - your'e talking around £3k. I'd expect there will be a tourist tax on top of that regarding the insurance.

Good luck! I'm not too fussy with cars, and have lent mine to friends and family without concern, but i'd never let someone i don't know drive my car for any sum of money.

I know of a Carrera 4S that's £260 a day with a £500 refundable deposit. It's in Scotland though so probably not much use to you.
