After a conversation with friends the other day general consensus was they prefer to see older porsches on the road instead of newer models, I tend to like old and new, what do you guys prefer to see?

I like to see something special - as I live in London - seeing 993/996/997 C2's (or 4's or 4S's) is just an everyday occurance, so what!

I like to see the RS's, the Clubsports - and of course, the very old stuff - preferably pre-impact bumpers (pre-74ish).

Totally agree dont get me wrong like to see all the new models but there is something special to see a well maintained older car,and not just Porsches.

I was in front of a very purposeful looking black 993 Turbo S on the M1/M25 today. looked very very lowwww from my rear mirror. I gave the driver a toot and a wave, but he seemed to be driving...

anyone on here?

I prefer old stuff as it's more interesting, but any GT3, GT2, Turbo and specialist modern car is very agreeable to brighten up the roads

I saw an interesting 996 tonight.

The bosywork suggested a 996 Turbo- rear spoiler (down), side air vents etc BUT it was a convertable, with a hard top.

Was it a 996 Turbo Convertable OR
was it a 996 Convertable with Turob bodywork?

I knoe they made the former, but the latter?

I personally prefer the technology of the newer vehicles but I dont think the 1980's styling will ever be beaten.

944's, 924's and 928's are all among my favourites.

I agree, I dont live too far away from you Mel and I find it amazing that I recognise the same 3.2 Carreras, 964`s and 993`s around this area time and again, which is great. The newer stuff is everywhere, but they just dont seem to be that memorable. Maybe its because they all seem to be grey?

...I`ll get my coat then!

I love the older styling, pre-993 does it for me, but then again - any pork is nice around my parts where they are quite rare...

But one I would love to see in the flesh is this one , I do wonder what went through his/her mind when those colours where ordered

Couldnt agree more. I love trying to spot other porsches out on the roads when Im out in mine, I have found that the vast majority of those in the newer models arent interested in a bit of comeradery (sp?) though . For me though I just love seeing any porsche on the road, still has that magical appeal even now.

Had a very friendly wave from a guy in a red 944 on way into town the other day. Puts a smile on ya face

I like older porkers in general, but must admit I was completely smitten with a slate grey 996 that pootled past me a few days ago. One of the best looking cars on the road imho.

There is nothing to compare with the smiles on peoples faces (especially frantically waving children) as I pass them in my '88 911 turbo cabriolet. Passing school playgrounds is usually followed by shouts of 'like your car mate!'.

The modern cars may be far easier to drive quickly, but lack the absolute fear factor of driving a 930 on boost whilst hopefully negotiating a bend, an experience to be savoured!
