Quick advice re service costs

Car is currently in the garage (OPC). It's the six year service so drive belt is required to be changed.

I'm being quoted £252 to do this. Is this right as it seems a lot?

I found a pdf document about Porsche service pricing and they only quote £83.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the place as they also told me I should change the PDK clutch oil or transmission oil.... only my car is a manual?!

They came back by saying the transmission oil should be changed anyway. There is nothing they have found wrong, just recommending it be done. But schedules recommend every 12yrs or 120,000 miles (my car 6yrs/11,000 miles). When I mentioned this they said it was just a recommendation, but in my eyes it was simply an attempt to wrongly try and get more money from this.

All sounds very excessive to me.
I had a specialist change the drive belt on my 996GT3 last year and I was with him when he done it and only took approx 30mins. Was with him the whole time doing major service and took approx 3hrs all in, that's with changing fuel filter and all other relevant pieces. I liking being there too see everything being done.

Gear box oil change seems like they just major up selling.

Normal OPC practice attempting to squeeze more out of you than is really required. They will probably also tell you that your discs and pads need changing and that your tyres are below the recommended limit (3mm) and should be changed!

If you still have the car covered by the Porsche warranty then you don't really have a choice.

They forgot to do mine at my 6 year and I went to pick it up and they said sorry do you want the belts doing ?

I said yes of course, why did you not do it ?, it took very little time , say 30 mins and I was charged £52 I think all in.
But I guess that was because they forgot to do it so no labour charge was added.

but it looks so easy to do, remove the carpet behind seats, lift off cover, fit belt, put carpet bit back on.

Got mine going to a indy small service £165.

They were also trying to charge me £550 earlier for the spark plug change!!

I told them the earlier quote when booking in and they backed down saying out of goodwill they'd do it for £136.... but only as it was their mistake. I asked how it could possibly cost that much. They wanted 3 hours labour to complete the change!

Last time the car will ever go near it again.

Mine has just been through the 6 year maintence, belts were £140. As for the fixed servicing, only applies at participating dealers but you try and find a list of participating dealers, thought not think the document is classed as secret.

Don't forget the 2 yearly 'FREE OF CHARGE' corrosion check...
