911 What's it worth?
Discussion
Been reading with interest for some time, finally signed up - so hi to all.
Got a 996 C2 Cab. Tip. 02/52 Seal Grey/Black 13k now,reasonable spec. top condition, garaged.
Bought it at 5 months old with 3k on clock, basically brand new it's a C98 import seems full UK spec, asked at main dealer who seems to think so?
Any ideas what it might be worth?

Well thanks for info guys.
Must say am a bit disappointed at what I read.
Can't understand the thinking behind all this.
If all built abroad anyway and same build quality, so basically same car then if spec is the same, what's the problem?
Seen cars of my age & spec around at £45K or >

I'd say late 30s.
If its not C16 spec (and even if it is, you can still specify a C16 build at a dealer on the continent!) and is basically an import, it will frighten people off because:
1) they hear the word "import" - there is a (possibly unrealistic) reluctance for people to get involved with an imported car unless it is seriously cheap
2) Porsche Cars GB didn't have anything to do with this car, so will offer no help/support in the event anything goes wrong - they would refer you back to Porsche in the country of origin. This means no goodwill payments for RMS etc (generally, unless it somehow got back into the official dealer network)
3) As it wasn't originally bought in the UK it is not covered by the UK Sales of Goods act, so you have no comeback in this country on the manufacturer.
4) There might be a slight insurance premium increase due to it being an import
Unfortunately, the way I see it there is a very small market for a RHD import Porsche - at least with LHD the buyer has the option of selling it back on the continent - with RHD your only real market is the UK, and the people don't want RHD imports.

People will buy any car if it is priced right. The trick is to gauge just what the right price is. This car is not going to be under warranty for much longer and the fact that it was an import is reducing in impact as time goes on. I can't see why you can't price it at the cheaper end of the marketplace for this type of car and see what happens.
No one has yet answered the question about what the difference in spec is - I can't be bothered to look it up myself!

The C98 country code, doesn't come up on the various Porsche option de-coders....I have checked PDF lists as well.
From memory I think it may be the country code for Cyprus...I recall some of the Porsche you can win in the airport raffles being C98.
You could call Porsche cars Uk who may give you a definitive answer.
The UK cars as we all know are C16, without going into all the spec, the key areas are Uk lighting, indicators heights and specifications, correct alarm/immob and various other things on a 996 coupe for example like full leather & rear wash wipe neither will be stsndard on a german C00 supplied car.
The thing that can help value is if you have a certificate of conformity that shows the car complies with european emmision and other laws.
If your car has PCM, full carbon & special leather,etc.. it may well be above UK spec anyhow.
It is just the unknown factors and import stigma that scares buyers off, especially when they are spending north of 30 grand of their money.

Wouldnt be too scared of a Cprus import myself.......just sold a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon which was from Cyprus............there wasnt a thing different to a UK car.......I made it a grand cheaper than a UK car and it sold quickly.........at the end of the day they are all imports!! BUT you have to buy them cheaper in the first instance so you can sell em a bit cheaper when the time comes
Interesting feedback guys.
I seem to remember being told it might be from Switzerland, that sound right?
Anyway, not gonna worry too much now, it's a 3.6 facelift, Tip. Cab. so nice car anyway, and as you say might not be such a problem over time. I just had in mind a change to a C4S if the money was right.
Dealer offered me extended warranty which I will take up for peace of mind and carry on enjoying the drive.
Thanks all!!!
