Replacement Disks + Pads after 1000 miles from Purchase

I recently purchased a Cayman R from official Porsche Dealership (for now won't mention which one) - after I had it a few days I posted a few pictures on here and people spotted that they had forgotten to put back the decals on the front after they had resprayed the front end (which they didn't tell me they done)

I took the car today to my local Porsche dealership to put on the Decals and they rang me up to say both front and back brakes needed new pads + disks as they were 80% worn! - I have done probably 1000 miles since purchasing the car (it started with 12k) - when they did the 101 point check should they have flagged up that it was already very worn and replaced them?

bottom line - do I have a leg to stand on going back to them to say they need to cover the cost?

yes ask why it passed a 111 check when you bought it !

it's OPC Notts at a guess as they had the front end sprayed twice(or some one else did) as the 1st time it did not match !

Are they 80% worn?

And if they are, 20% left to go.

In any case replace them elsewhere, if needed. If car is under warranty, I can't see how anyone will be any the wiser if you bought them from an alternative source.

Both pads and discs are very highly DIY-able so any local garage will be able to replace, if you don't do them yourself.

what wear level does the 111 check require for a pass?

I'd be asking them to cover the cost. The check they do should ensure they are no more than 50% worn so they'd need to explain how they have dropped 30% in 1000 miles.

I got my OPC to cover the cost of replacement at 50% albeit because they were badly scored.

I totally agree with you. However, it's worth noting that although some OEM discs may look identical, the Porsche originals have a kite mark stamped in the hubs....so, if they want to check they are genuine Porsche parts they can. Same goes for the pads which have the kite logos on the back. Therefore, to preserve the warranty the DIY needs to be done with genuine parts which in my experience are cheapest if bought from the Porsche parts counter.

That is kind of what I expect from them, it is being done by the dealer, I don't have time/inclination to have anything done to it outside of official Porsche channels.

The dealers try to get away without doing stuff just like any other car dealer. I bought my CR privately off the previous owner who had bought it from a Porsche centre a few months earlier. The car was just over 4 years old at the time so came complete with the four year service prior to collection. However, they conveniently forgot that the car should also have the spark plugs changed at four years (it hadn't reached the mileage trigger so was serviced on age as that came first). Unfortunately the owner didn't notice this so that cost will be down to me.

So, check your service record as well and make sure they didn't miss anything else that an 'approved used Porsche' should have been supplied with.

Also it's worth noting, I'd already driven the car away when I noticed the squeal. Just make a firm polite complaint and see what happens, you should at least get goodwill towards the cost.
