Cheaper alternatives to Paintshield?

The wife's new Cayenne is due to arrive in September and she wants to get the front bumper, lights, bonnet and wings done in the xpel self healing film. I've got the same on my Boxster that was done by Paintshield when the car was new 3 years ago.

Had a quote from Paintshield and it seems really expensive (to the point where we probably won't proceed).

Can anyone recommend a decent alternative? Car is being delivered by OPC Leicester.

if it's on a pcp hand back then don't bother, if it's a keeper and you paid for it might as well spend another £800 !

there are cheaper places which fit xpel over paintsheild which do seem bloody expensive, just ring up some dealers on the expel site and get some quotes.

Absolutely agree! I think she may keep it so I guess it's worth doing. But the price was £876 for bumper, half bonnet, mirrors, half wings or for an extra £480 you could upgrade to have the whole bonnet covered which seemed pricey! £400 just for an extra bit of material??

Try Topaz and it's definitely worth getting full bonnet, bumper, headlight lenses, wings and wing mirrors done.

Try Max Protect, they look after JZM Porsche cars and are Xpel approved service centre - [e-mail]

Cheap is not necessarily as good or better though.....



The person who installed that film is no longer listed as a 3M Ventureshield approved installer.

Paintshield aren't cheap but they are good and they back their work. I had a small spot where the film lifted (probably because of a high pressure hose at the carwash) and Paintshield picked up my car from 80 miles away, fixed and returned the car on their trailer at no charge. That's service.

Topaz are every bit as expensive as Paintshield though.

Be wary of cheap alternatives, its not easy to do well and you'll regret it

Paintshield are the best in the game. Granted, they are not the cheapest, but they are the most experienced ppf installers in the country and design everything in house, unlike many of the other ppf installers that are popping up around the uk. They have to rely on what's on the expel database. Also, Paintshield use suntek now, not expel, as it's got much more clarity and less orange peel.

I had nothing but problems with them, would never use them again!

Xpel designs are very good to be fair, and it's really down to the installer how the final result looks.

100% agree. I am a great fan of the protective film. Have had it done three times in 12 years on mine and it really does work well. The newer self heal film is even better. Just have to be careful who does the actual work for you. Plus how they deal with you if problems arise after the install.
