Hmmmm, so not as good as the 991RS and nowhere near as good as the 997 4.0.
If up and coming GT cars are offered with a manual then 991R could well end up being forgotten fairly quickly; an inconsequential sideshow which garnered notoriety purely at a time when Porsche had seemingly abandoned the manual transmission.

I agree that the limited numbers of the 991R will guarantee exclusivity and a healthy margin for some time to come, I also think that if the next GT3 is offered as a manual as well as PDK-S the halo of the 991R will be tarnished a little. As long as the GT3 is normally aspirated of course. If not, expect the 991R prices and reputation to go ballistic.

Many will call it a bin parts special of the outgoing 991, with a new gearbox. I agree they will not produce more because they have said so quite specifically. Ditto 918.However, the perceived exclusivity of the GT3 & RS model is well known - typically less than 2500 of each series/model. And yet they have produced more than double of the 991 GT3 & the RS. They said they would not prpduce more than 5000 GT4s - think the number is much higher already.
The R is from Gallery Porsche.

The number is indicated to be between 4k-5k worldwide; the original projection was 2k, so still within the initial higher expectation.Regardless, the 991R will be an amazing car, but of the magazines that have so far compared directly with the GT4, have said the GT4 is the better car.

Will bet you a virtual pint it will be over 5k.Regardless, the 991R will be an amazing car, but of the magazines that have so far compared directly with the GT4, have said the GT4 is the better car.
The GT4 is a damn good car, and better value, but better than the R? Look forward to reading about it.
