944 Turbo Silver Rose edition 1998

Hi all

Hoping you could help me please. Been offered a beautiful Silver Rose that is for sale, immaculate original condition and around 90k miles. Lots of history etc. But I have no idea of a value for it, and cant find anything on sale in the UK to compare it with. Does anyone have any thoughts as to the value? £10k IMO. £20-22k for a 90k mile 944 even a silver rose is madness. Its no different to an sept 88-89 250bhp turbo S anyways.

There were a few differences from memory. Non sunroof shell. Trick suspension. Stronger engine block. Awful burgundy interior. What were Porsche thinking. I owned one back in the day. 1988 not 1998 by the way. I bought it home and took the missus for a spin. Got back. She walked around the car. Looked at the boot lid. So it is a turbo. Yes it is. Not all that is it and walked off into the house. She was right. An average boring car at best even with a little boost added. No 911

Are you thinking of buying it because you want one, or because you think it's a good financial proposition?

If any 944 is collectable, it's this one IMO, although a non-silver rose turbo S is rarer I guess.

Price depends hugely on how "immaculate, original" it really is..
Definitely not a £10k car right now, I guess a dealer might punt it out at £20k..

I like collecting interesting cars, and was offered this one as an addition to that collection. Firstly as a fun car to take out occasionally but also as an investment that may at least hold its value and not lose anything over the next few years. Having had a 996GT3 and a couple of other Porsches previously this would be the first front engines one for sure. As you quite rightly said, it's no 911 but was keen to hear what people thought as an ownership proposition

Condition really is very good, might need sunglasses for that interior - it's certainly "distinctive"

And yes, a 1988, fat fingers on my original post.

I love 944's, and went to look at a silver rose 3 or 4 years ago, sub £10k (prices were lower then) and a very nice car. Then I drove it & it just didn't grab me. I think you need to have a good drive in it to work out if it will ever get used or just sit in your garage looking a bit sad...

I covered over 100,000 miles in 944 turbo S and servicing was expensive and reliability poor compared to something like a 3.2 Carrera. I loved the way it covered ground though. mine was quick.

Statement of the obvious! Probably the best car that Porsche produced at the time. Well built, robust mechanicals, handled fantastically well, practical (ish) and very good performance. They were a bit laggy but turbo cars were at the time, and that gave it character all of its own. No reason why it should be unreliable if looked after. I seriously regret selling my 944T (250) road car and I'd have another if I could. Rising in value.

Love these cars and have had an eye out for one for a while. Really liked them as a kid.

£15k-ish would probably be a reasonable estimate for a private sale.

A friend bought a late, 30k miles 944t from a dealer last year for £22k.

I'd say £10k, may be a little more for really good condition and unquestionable service history. Those quoting significantly higher prices are being optimistic.

£10k? So £8k less than the cheapest advertised on piston heads that has 160,000 on the clock...ok, whatever you say.
