Ok the title harks back to 944 days.

I was at my local OPC yesterday and had a look around several Macans they had. First impression is they are very small inside and quite plasticky. I noticed a weird thing with the seats -all the divers side were electric adjustment; all the front passenger seats were mechanical (by hand). I have never ever seen this on a car. It comes across as a really cheap an nasty thing to do - something I would expect on a budget car trying to punch above its weight.

That said its still a lovely place to sit and I am more than a little tempted by the Macan S. Especially as the Cayenne is too big for a run around.

Any owners on here with good/bad stories?

Macan is a great car if you don't want the bulk of the Cayenne. Dare I say, the Macan is more 'chuckable' and comes with the added benefit of PDK over the more traditional auto box of the Cayenne. I

Went for the petrol and very glad we did for the performance and refinement. The only potential limitation would be the sloping rear hatch, which may prove an occasional limitation to folks with lots and lots of luggage. Perfectly okay for dog carrying however. Just had a long weekend away with 5 in the Macan and it did a great job.

Perhaps the biggest accolade you could give the Macan is that I know of at least two Cayenne owners who have made or are making the swap to Macan, given the don't need the bulk/space and wish to have something that's more useable/chuckable/nimble on a daily basis.

As ever with Porsche, you can spec these cars to the eyeballs.

This.

Macan is smaller and handles very very well for a car of this type. Nothing really to touch it. Petrol the one you really want.

Cayenne is MUCH bigger and while it still handles (best in class) it is nowhere near as nimble as the Macan.

Spec wise, remember the base car is that, a base car. You can spec these up anyway you (and your wallet) wish to so no trouble adding on electric asjustment for the passenger. I think they tried to keep the original list as low as possible.

Pulled the trigger on a build slot for a Macan GTS in September and I can't bloody wait!! It'll be the 'every day' car mainly for my wife. I've got a 997.2 turbo for daft days and we thought the Macan GTS a good balance between practicality and sporty.
Poor mans Cayanne? Nah, different animal.

As others have said they are very different cars. We had a Macan turbo for 18000 miles and loved it and we have a Macan GTS arriving next month. Lots of performance, great handling, and can fit the 3 of us in absolutely fine, which we couldn't do in a Cayman or 911.

While we're waiting for the GTS we are driving a Cayenne diesel and it's a very different beast. It's much more SUV, and much less sporty. They both feel similar inside from a build quality perspective, but I've had 18 ways sports seats and full leather interior in all 3. A Macan does need £6-10k of extras to get to the right trim level.
