I'm going to change my Front Brake Discs, should I use OE Porsche discs or the Zimmerman discs.

I was in the waiting area of a well known and reputable Porsche Independent recently, when they took delivery of a large number of brake discs, all labeled Zimmerman and delivered in a "German & Swedish" van.

My point is if they are good enough for the independant then they are good enough for me.

My Zimmerman ones rusted on the hub, my OE ones didn't

really spoils the look of the car if you are fussy

Just spray them with one of the heat resistant paints before you put them on then. Works for me.

Edited to add:

The hubs of course and not the rotors - before the wisecracks start.

I tend to mentally mark down a car I`m looking at if I see "aftermarket" disks on it - with the shiny (rusting) bodies. All the good specialists we use fit factory disks and for a reason. There isn`t a massive difference in the price and I just feel that if someone has "skimped" for a few quid on such an important part of the car what else might they have "overlooked".

Do the decent thing and fit genuine disks to go with your propriety brand tyres. Nothing worse than seeing a set of Bombay Specials sitting on someone`s 911 !

As far as I understood Zimmerman are the makers of the OE discs and the only difference is the non-painted rotor hat (hub) - the business end of the disc is identical.
