997 Turbo Boost Leak - Take It Easy?
Discussion
Hello All
Whilst a search of the above yields quite a few results, I couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for.
Computer has come up with boost leak, and its booked in to be looked at, but alas the earliest appointment that works is nearly 2 weeks away, so until then I won't know for sure what the reason is.
Id just like to know if a boost leak could mean something serious/catastrophic? From what Ive learned, I believe it means theres some air escaping somewhere and people often refer to loose clamps or punctured hoses as the culprit. I am wondering if it could be anything else more serious? Car seems to feel fine under regular acceleration, but Im yet to try full throttle or heavy acceleration until Im satisfied it won't do any damage.
Do I need to take it easy for the next few weeks until its looked at ? Someone says the waste gates may not open properly due to the leak which could ruin the turbos. car has around 29k Miles on it. Planning a group drive this weekend so would be good to know beforehand.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thank you
JKay
