With the greatest respect, .....I for one am fed up of the amounts I have lost on cars over the years. For me I find it a refreshing change for something to hold at least list....And I drive and track all my cars., my R will be tracked along side my RS....So many great cars that will never be driven again.

Fully agree with this, I had a good drive in one yesterday, first time in a very long time, like 12 years...It sounds like racing car, because that's what the engine started life as, ie 3.5lt high rev unit V10 designed for the Footwork F1 team. t) selling at such crazy prices, it makes the CGT seem undervalued. I can't fathom it either. The CGT makes the Enzo look like a kit car IMO. I think perhaps people are put off by the clutch, and the car is raw and needs to be driven properly in the old school sense. But this is what makes it such an exciting thing. I always learn more about the car and my driving each time I take it out. Maybe that isn't what people in the market for 500k+ cars want.
I also wonder if at the time the CGT didn't quite get the praise and appreciation it deserved? The Ferrari's have always sort of stole the limelight with Porsche's seemed 2nd best (?). The CGT is catching up, but slower than I thought, and it deserves. It's a strange market out there - 911 R's at 500k+. TDF's at 700k? WTF!A few years ago, Porsche was doing loads of marketing events around their 50 year anniversary on 911. I remember, opening up almost any magazine (digital or paper), publications and seeing something about porsche celebrating the 911 50 year, featuring both classic and new models, even in the plane on sky magazines. I believe it did have an affect on massive 911 trend since then, especially air cooled versions. (they were on demand anyway)

Happily the cgt is a quite tricky thing to manage (at high speeds and low speeds) and will never ever be a posers car to be used in city centres for idiots who can't wait to get on social media. I don't see prices of them rocketing as a good thing anyway as appreciating cars are usually the biggest killer of them actually being used properly and they are rarely seen enough as it is. it's been the case for many years that only people that really wanted them bought and drove them and that pool of people has always been quite limited. I hope it stays that way although the very sudden price jumps of a few years ago has unfortunately already turned the speculators attention to the car in a much bigger way than when they were hanging around £250-300k for years.AndrewD said:
