just noticed an oil leek on my 2001 boxster s - It has been out of warranty 2 months. I took it to an independent and he said it aint worth replacing as it will go again - just keep your eye on the oil. He said porsche know about it and are told to cover it up!
I've read a few stories about porsche GB replacing these FOC. Can anyone help on the bestway to go about this? and what I need to say to them?
Stratstones are my local porsche dealers.
Would anyone who's had porsche pay for the work back me up if I argue that they've done it for one so we all must be entitled to it?????

also, could I now extend the warranty and have the work done even though I know about the fault? Would they want to check the car before the extended warranty is granted?

Have a look on the Porscheclubgb.com, forum, in the Boxster section, there is endless reading on RMS problems.

Bottom line is, it's a design fault on the Boxster/996 engines, and even when fixed can go again/ or last forever !!

If you car is just out of warranty, then go to your OPC and they Should at least give you some good will towards the fixing costs, as it is a known problem.

I think it's around £600 to fix it.

Failing that, i have heard that calling Porche GB can laso be a help towards a claim.

Good luck !!

had my 996 done with labor FOC. Probably had something to do with spending 4K on sports exhaust, clutch + loads else at the time.
This was second time rms done, but was told it is now an improved new part number seal.....
