hi you lot may remember me psting about a month ago when i'd just bought my 1994 iris blue c2 cab (unfortunately not a vaioram) 85K beauty.
These cars are addictive more so than my las tgerman sports car which was a disaster!
Anyway does anyone know anything about the roof recall for the 993 cabs in porsche 911 world last month and whether i should just go to my nearest OPC?
Also does anyone know who will give classic insurance for someone under 30 (ie. me )

Aon do offer classic cover to over 25s I think. They did for me and a mate for our E30 M3s anyway.

Go to your car, and follow the bottom of the windscreen until you get to the VIN number (something like WPOZZZ_________).
Write this down and call your OPC, speak to service, and quote them your VIN and ask them to check if there are any outstanding recalls on your car (like the roof, or the engine bay wiring loom).

Tim, I don't think this cab roof recall is Vin specific, AFAIK it applies to all cabs, and can result in the roof opening at speed (what a great air brake !!) so get into the OPC smartish ....

thanks for your help everyone. Today was glorious as after a night on call i took thee 993 for its first top down spin in the sussex country side. Roof mechanism being done next week, by the looks of the link you sent maurice it seems that it may get rid of the squeaking form the roof when its closed. finger crossed happy motoring all

since you are using this vehicle (and most specifically its unique roof mechanism) as a means of staying awake and thus driving home safely after work, it presumably is a fully justifiable necessary business expense? (since you could not conduct your business without crashing and dying afterwards unless you had this car?)
as a fellow soft topper I must put that one past the accountant...

I pay about £800 for my 993 C2.
9 years NCB, protected, car garaged between Reading and Wokingham (suburbia).
Oh, and that includes european breakdown cover.

www.privilege.co.uk (owned by directline who can never get even close to the same price!)
